This week, ADS SR welcomed our esteemed partners from Help A Child (HaC) in The Netherlands and Kenya Office for an insightful organization and program audit. From Tuesday to Thursday, the collaboration revealed invaluable lessons, best practices, and opportunities for growth. The professionalism and dedication displayed by the HaC team created a learning environment that was both engaging and productive.

Our field engagements with project beneficiaries showcased the remarkable outcomes of the partnership between ADS SR and HaC, shining a light on transformative interventions in Self-Help Groups, Farmer Groups, Disability and Inclusion and Children’s Groups.

Empowering Self-Help Groups (SHGs): Fostering Financial Independence

The audit highlighted how SHGs have become a cornerstone of community empowerment. These groups, formed primarily by women, have grown into platforms for financial literacy, savings, and income generation. During field visits, members shared stories of how small loans accessed through SHGs have enabled them to start small businesses, pay school fees, and even invest in improved housing. The collective strength of these groups has also boosted members’ confidence, transforming them into agents of change within their communities.

Strengthening Farmer Groups: Cultivating Resilience and Food Security

Farmer groups supported through the partnership have become models of sustainable agriculture. Beneficiaries proudly displayed their thriving farms, cultivated using climate-smart techniques learned through training sessions. Members have embraced diversified farming, incorporating high-value crops and livestock to enhance their income streams. Two farmers visited showcased their integrated farms and composite manure pits which they have made through skills training sessions. The audit reaffirmed how these interventions are building resilience against the challenges of climate change and sustainable livelihoods.

Nurturing Children’s Groups: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders

The vibrant energy in children’s group (CAM) was a testament to the program’s long-term vision of investing in the next generation. These groups serve as safe spaces for children to learn life skills, participate in peer counseling, and build self-esteem. During interactions, children confidently shared their dreams and how the program had equipped them with the tools to pursue education and contribute positively to their communities. The positive ripple effects were evident in the high self-esteem among the children.

Lessons Learned and the Road Ahead

The partnership with HaC continues to evolve, and this week’s audit has laid a foundation for deeper collaboration. As we move forward, the spirit of this partnership inspires us to build on these successes, driving transformative change across more communities. Together with Help A Child, ADS SR remains committed to ensuring that All children in Abosi have dignified life with love and a promising future, empowering individuals, strengthening families, and fostering sustainable development.

This journey of collaboration affirms that when organizations unite with shared values and goals, the impact is deep and enduring.

From Struggle to Stability: How ADS SR through ACK Mogor Compassion International Assisted Project Transformed Enock’s Family!

Enock Kiplangat, the 7th born in a family of ten children, was only 5 years when his family’s dire living situation came to light. His home, a small, cramped hut in Mogor community, Transmara East Sub-County, Narok County, could barely accommodate the large family. The single hut served as a living room, kitchen, and bedroom for Enock's parents and younger siblings. The older siblings were forced to seek shelter from neighbors, a risky practice, particularly for the teenage girls who were vulnerable to sexual abuse as they wandered at night. "We depend mostly on menial jobs to provide for the family," Enock’s father shared, his voice heavy with resignation. "These jobs are scarce, and when we do find them, we earn just KES 200 to 250. It’s impossible to save enough to build another hut for the girls or boys."
