Yesterday(17.12.24), the entire organization came together in a very colourful ceremony at Kericho to bid farewell to the Outgoing ADS SR Executive Director, a woman who has been much more than a leader—she’s been the heart, soul, and engine of innovation at ADS SR: Mrs. Mary Naikumi!!.

The memorable event was graced by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Ernest of our Diocese of Kericho. The room buzzed with emotions as staff, colleagues, Board Members and friends gathered to celebrate the legacy of a leader who has inspired everyone she that she worked with.

Mary was a faithful and dedicated servant who had a passion of work and service to the community.  This was very evident in the speeches that were given by various representatives who have had an opportunity to work with Mary. One called Mary “The Strategic Visionary”. Mary’s ability to see beyond the challenges of today and align the team’s vision for a brighter future. “Mary showed us how to dream bigger, think smarter, and act faster,”

Another person described Mary as “Mary has been more than a mentor; she’s been The Compassionate Anchor for all of us. Her door was always open—whether you needed advice on a project or just someone to listen. She believed in us even when we doubted ourselves.” As the speeches continued, colleagues hailed her as The Creative Powerhouse and The Empathetic Problem-Solver, recalling how she brought bold ideas and solutions to complex challenges. “She never shied away from the tough problems,”. “She listened with empathy and took action, showing us what leadership truly means.”

The event also continued with a nostalgic presentation montage showcasing Mary’s journey, her unwavering contributions, and the milestones she helped the organization achieve. As the snapshots played across the screen, it was very evident that “Actions Speak louder than words”

One of the most memorable moments came when the team presented Mary with symbolic gifts: a custom plaque, a portrait painting of herself, and a gift pack, among other gifts, Mary accepted the gifts with a heartfelt smile.

The much-awaited moment of cake cutting arrived and Mary was assisted by her greatest support and partner Ven. Naikumi, cut the cake together and shared it out with colleagues!

The Board members too were not left behind in tasting this delicious cake

Mary’s farewell speech was the highlight of the evening. “Leading this team has been a great privilege of my career,” she said.  She recounted her professional journey and what has shaped her to be who she is today and it was quite amazing just to listen to her. Passion, integrity, professionalism, and stewardship among other qualities were displayed.

She was keen to appreciate all those who have mentored and walked with her in her career life including The Anglican Archbishop of Kenya, The Current Diocese of Kericho Bishop, The ADS Kenya Director, team leads of various partners that ADS SR has worked with, ADS SR Board members among other people. “I may be stepping away, but the bonds we’ve created will always remain.” Her words carried the warmth and wisdom that had defined her time with the organization, leaving everyone inspired yet reluctant to say goodbye.

As the evening wound down, stories and laughter continued to flow. Colleagues lingered a little longer, everyone snapping group photos and sharing hugs, all wanting to hold onto the moment—and to Mary’s incredible legacy—for just a bit more.

It was not just a farewell; it was a celebration of the values Mary embodied—integrity, passion, professionalism and unwavering dedication to a greater mission. And as Mary walked out, one thing was certain: though her chapter here had ended, her impact would remain, inspiring the team for years to come. And we wish you God’s blessings in your future endevors
