Empowering the Frontline Health Champions
Building Stronger Communities in the Fight Against Tuberculosis and champion for improved health care in Narok.

Ending tuberculosis begins with empowering the people who serve communities every day. With support from AMREF through the Global Fund TB Cycle 7 Project, ADS South Rift has been investing in continuous capacity building to equip frontline health workers and community champions with the skills needed to transform TB prevention, detection, treatment, and advocacy across Narok County.

Working alongside the Ministry of Health and AMREF Health Africa, ADS South Rift has implemented a series of specialized trainings across the 6 TB Control Zones of Narok County.

These trainings have targeted Community Health Promoters (CHPs), healthcare workers, Community-Led Monitoring peer monitors, Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) super users, Community-Led Advocacy champions, and Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM)champions, creating a well-equipped network of frontline actors committed to improving TB outcomes and overall health service delivery in the County.

Community Health Promoters (CHPs), in particular, are the vital link between communities and health facilities, promoting health, providing education, and connecting people to essential services. This cadre was trained and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver quality services, respond to emerging health needs, and strengthen healthier, more resilient communities. ADS South Rift has also had a chance to train CHPs and peer Mentors on Adolescent Sexual and reproductive Health

Each training serves a unique purpose, but together they build one powerful force, a knowledgeable and confident workforce capable of identifying TB cases early, supporting patients throughout treatment, strengthening data quality, and ensuring communities have a voice in improving health services.

The impact is already taking shape. Community health volunteers are better equipped to reach vulnerable households, healthcare workers are delivering improved TB services, and trained peer monitors are promoting accountability while championing quality care.

By investing in people, ADS South Rift is strengthening community ownership, creating resilient health systems, and bringing Narok County one step closer to a future free from tuberculosis.

When communities are empowered, they become the strongest partners in ending TB and championing quality health care.
